Many jokers feature the fantasy horses such as centaurs, unicorns, and flying horses. There are 23 of these fantasy beasts in my joker collection so far.
Focusing for a moment on flying horses, the terms for winged or flying horses includes:
Pegasus: While originally the name of a specific immortal white stallion in Greek mythology, "pegasus" is widely used as a generic common noun for any winged equine.
Pterippus: The literal ancient Greek term for a winged horse (pter meaning wing, ippus meaning horse).
Horses can apparently have wings on their back or on each hoof. There is a myth of a superhorse, who like Superman and Supergirly, flies without wings.
Flying horse myths come from many cultures and corners of the globe. Note:
Tulpar: A mythical winged or flying horse in Turkic and Central Asian mythology.
Chollima: A legendary winged horse originating from East Asian mythology.
Lungta, or Wind Horse: In Tibetan Buddhism, a flying horse, often winged, which carried prayers from humans to the heavens
There are also flying horse myths from Turkey, India (Hindu), Iran, and Ethiopia.
Below is the total collection of mythological horses.
I consider DRAGONS to be a different category since they are of the genus of birds and I do not seem them a closely related to centaurs, unicorns, or flying horses. I do see where someone could argue that they have some common elements. BTW, I do understand the difference between dragons (they have six limbs: four legs and two wings) and wyverns or drakes which have only two hand legs plus wings.
