Duplicates for Trading

I’ve noticed that while my joker website is mostly about showing what I have, many other sites focus more on showing what they have to trade.  So I’m creating a page where I will over time list my jokers available for trade, these are my extra jokers or my joker dupe or dupes. This will take awhile since my extras have not been well organized:

My photography and organization will improve. Promise. I just don't know when.

In the meantime, if you have extras and as I get more extras organized (think months and years), I'd be interested in buying some of yours, Please contact me in the comments below. (updated 11-2021)

Wind Instruments sans flutes

The musical jokers are a happy section and the wind section with the bagpipes and horns is perhaps teh jolliest of all. Without further ado, here's the wind section (note that the flute-playing jokers now have their own subsection).

 

 

 

 

 

A recent addition to this section is the Music Hath It's Charms joker from a Congress deck dated 1899.  It was acquired by me as part of my Aug 2023 purchase of Congress decks and some related trading.

 So here's the collection as it appears in the album. The baby faun has long been one of my favorites. The Triumph jokers are a new favorite for reasons that I'll explain at the bottom of this article.

 

 

There are five bagpipers on the page below.  Arguable six depending on how the middle row middle on is interpreted. Any chance that I can complete a full page of 9 bagpipers?

The top row below are from Hallmark. I don't know anything about the origin or publishers of the other jokers on these pages.

There are also jokers with real musicians which are in the real people section. And Elvis, the King, of course has his own section.

Oh, and why do I like those Triumphs? Well, when I was little, we lived in London. My Dad bought a Triumph Vitesse 1968 and brought it back to the US. Here’s the day he brought it home.

Here’s me driving that car when I was in high school in the early 1970s.

This past month, I bought almost the same car.

Flute Playing Musical Jokers

 This section was part of the musical wind instrument jokers but it's become its own subsection and just features jokers playing the flute or picolo.  Trumpet, horn, saxophone, clarinet, and bagpipe playing jokers are in the general wind section. There's also another section that has the two headed musical jokers (but they are mostly string instruments) plus a few in the musical ensemble joker section.

The first flutist joker features a dancing flute-playing faun. Nice pair of hooves, eh? Is he playing left handed?

In the bottom left of this set is the Muller Swiss joker which is the original of these flute-playing themes. I believe.

Heads with Hands (but no wands)

 Many of the classic European jokers from Piaget, Modiana, and x.  These jesters are just the bust or top half of the body. The hands are shown but they are NOT holding a jesters wand. If they were, they'd be in the section called juster busts holding a jesters wand.  

The first one is by Modiano. He is making that we-have-a-secret finger gesture. He tried winking but it didn't look right in a still shotl

Here's a classic Piatnik joker typical of this section.

The two variations of the joker below  - the nose itch guy - is by Bernard Dondorf from Frankfurt, Germany. They were used from ca.1895 until 1933. "NASM stands for Nederlandsch Amerikaansche Stoomvaart Maatschappij (Dutch American Steamship Company), which later became the Holland Amerika Lijn, better known now as HAL." He is on the Joker Poster in the 3G position.  (Source:   Joops page about him and his kind). 

I'll end this post by reviewing that the joker category of "Busts or Heads" has four subcategories.
