Animals Miscellaneous

What is the Animals Miscellaneous Section?

The other sections of the animal joker selection are the felines, canines, equestrians, and volant section (ie Cats , Dogs, horses, and flyers). This section is the forty other animal jokers, the animals miscellaneous section.  This "otherness" makes them none the less desirable, beautiful, or enchanting.  There's also the monkey jokers.

I'm not sure why this rabbit is coming out of an egg and what the little mystical folk behind him are doing with the acorn on a stick. I suspect it's Easter related.  If you know what's going on here, please tell me!

Why is this rabbit is coming out of an egg?
I think it's a National Card Co deck. My markings are R 204 Z. Hochman's NU6a, Aladdin #1001 on P110 are just a squiggle. Anyone know how to interpret the markings?

While this next one might not truly belong in the animal section, I like how the hatching witch pairs with the hatching bunny before it.  Also, the boy with the gun is a perplexing twist on the small mystical creatures.  And then, there is a small turtle trying to escape the excitement. Anyone understand this scene or imagery?

Witches Come From Eggs?
Witches Come From Eggs?

This is one of my favorites since I like monkeys and there are only a few jokers where the jesters wand does not have the jester's own head. In this case, it's a human held by a monkey.  (I designed a joker with a cat and mouse holding jester wands with each others heads on it, topsy turvy)

The monkey in this picture interestingly enough had a previous role as the character for advertising for Monkey Brand Soap.  No, you could not make this stuff up.  Check out this advertisement from the 1880s including the clever poem:

I like giraffes. People look up to giraffes. Giraffes have friends in high places.

Have I mentioned that I like monkeys? You know I like jokers. Monkey Jokers!!! (There is an entire  the monkey jokers section)

A pharmaceutical bug?

This deer is from Cypress.  I know this because the back of the deck announces it is a Cypress tourism deck.

Someone's making a point with the trash on this buck's head. I think an environmentalist. I agree.

When I look closely at this one, it could be in the joker dog section. What do you think? I've made a note to move it.

A troubling joker for categorization. Should he be in with the bicyclists?

Were you looking for the bull and bison section? Here it is:

In this case, I've saved the best four for last. The first two are a pair from an art deck (I need to check out its origins unless someone can help me).

This monkey joker, like the monkey joker that I started this section with, is holding a bauble (or jesters wand) with a human head on it. I like jokers, I like monkeys, and I like innovations in what's on the jesters wands: I'm thrilled!!!!

Reminder. There is a  monkey jokers section.

And last is this gorgeous piece of art.  First its back, then the front:

Superhero Jokers

This section has been obsoleted by more current and complete articles. Here's the current organization: Entertainment Jokers: Animated
      1. CartoonsPeanutsBetty Boop,  Alice In Wonderland
      2. SuperHeros  , Cartoon Heroes
      3. Harry Potter Entertainment:
      4. Anime Japanese Jokers
The Star Wars is now part of the overall entertainment section, not in the cartoon section since most of Stat Wars is live action with actors and the cartoon versions are minor.
    -----
This section features Superhero and some other entertainment jokers but not the kid cartoon ones.

The first part of the cartoon section is Batmans. It mixes both live action and cartoon Batmans. The first pair are from a joker deck, I show the back as the third image.

This is the back of the deck of the two Batmans above. Yes, it's a Joker deck.

The next two Batman jokers are a pair, the back is shown as the third image.

The back of the Batman jokers pictured above.

Another Batman followed by the back

The next pair of jokers, I think both of the Joker, are from  Harley Quinn deck, The back is shown afterwards. I think Harley Quinn is a newish (mid 90s?) character who was the Jokers girlfriend at some point.

Now we are returning to the more classic and cartoony Batmans and Jokers.

Wonder Woman, the Green Phantom, Thor, Harry Potter, and Iron Man Jokers!

This next section is the Star Wars Section. There is now an entire subsection of Star War Jokers.

Here's an old video which shows this section when it mixed superheroes, cartoons, and several other categories that have now been split.

    Artsy Jokers

This article on artistic jokers has been superseded by an updated article on fine art jokers, published in December 2018.

I have picked out the most aesthetic jokers and assembled them in the art section of the joker collection.  Some could fit into other areas but I think each one of these 98 makes a strong claim on its own (or through its pair) for belonging in the art section of the joker collection.

These next two jokers are by Peter Wood from his 2000Pips transformation deck.

Thats the highlight of the first 9 jokers in the art section. They are colorful and imaginative, some are abstract.

The next section is a different aesthetic.  These jokers are grittier and edgier.  The first two are a pair.

And here's that section of jokers together.

These next 9 are also edgy and mystical with themes of death and reincarnation. These too will get more attention and better photography shortly.

These 9 deserve better photography and more explanation. Stay tuned.

This next section is more traditional, some even classical, art.

This section introduces a few surreal elements. For instance, there's a joker, the one with the hat and no head, which echoes the Son of Man by Rene Magritte.

    Here's some nature art.
